The Story

From the shadows to rebirth.

Formed in Buenos Aires in 1998, Melmoth is a dark electronic music project rooted in transformation and reinvention. Blending shadowed vocal lines with electronic sequences and refined orchestral textures, the band draws strong influence from classical literature, creating a dialogue between past and present through a modern sonic language.

After the release of their debut album Living for the Kingdom’s Will (Twilight Records, 2007), Melmoth retreated into the shadows for nearly a decade before re-emerging with renewed force. In 2024, the band released its second full-length album, Ars in Itinere, via Boston-based Lukotyk Records, marking a new chapter in its evolution.

Currently reshaped by a renewed lineup and co-produced by TSF, Melmoth is working on new material. The upcoming single “The Sweeper” signals a further step into darker, sharper and more exploratory territory.

Melmoth takes its name from the 1820 Gothic novel Melmoth the Wanderer by Irish playwright, novelist and clergyman Charles Maturin. The story follows a scholar who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for 150 additional years of life, only to wander the world in search of someone willing to inherit his pact.

Oscar Wilde, during his travels after his release from prison, adopted the name Sebastian Melmoth, a pseudonym drawn from the novel written by his great-uncle. We were first drawn to the name itself and to Wilde’s use of it during this period of exile; only later did we trace it back to its origin in Maturin’s dark Gothic masterpiece.
